Reports suggested that Mourinho was upset with Duran for not attending the training session and that he would face consequences for his absence. However, Fenerbahce's head of communications, Alper Yemeniciler, has denied these claims.
"The statements attributed to our head coach Jose Mourinho about our player Jhon Duran are entirely false," Yemeniciler stated. He also clarified that the 21-year-old player had arrived in Portugal to join the team's Algarve training camp.
It appears that Duran has been struggling to find his footing since leaving Aston Villa, where he scored 12 goals in various competitions despite mostly coming off the bench. Fenerbahce will be hoping that the player can bounce back to his best form, especially with the upcoming season.
