Hidalgo stated that there were no negotiations between Liverpool and Atletico Madrid regarding Alvarez's transfer, as Atletico did not want to sell the player.

Alvarez is currently under contract with Atletico until 2030 and has been performing well, scoring one goal in four games this season.

Last year, he had a successful first season with Atletico, scoring 30 goals in 61 games.
