According to sources, Manchester United has already initiated informal discussions with John's representatives before making a formal bid to the Brazilian club.

John has a release clause in his contract that allows him to join a club outside of Brazil for a fee of 6.8 million euros.

This season, John has made 30 official appearances for Botafogo, where he has a contract that runs until December 2028.
